Storage for 400 million m3 of natural gas

The Georgian Energy Ministry together with the Millennium Challenge Georgia Fund (MCG) has asked the Danish company Ramboll Oil & Gas (ROG) to conduct a pre-construction design study for underground natural gas storage. The storage capacity at the site in Ninotsminda in the southeast of Georgia is estimated at about 400 million m3.

The Ninotsminda depleted oil/gas field storage is designed to serve as a strategic gas storage facility and to balance seasonal energy requirements. The pre-construction design study includes the complete evaluation of all technical, geological, environmental, economic and legal aspects and other aspects that are critical for building an underground gas storage facility.

Acting as a subcontractor of ROG, KBB Underground Technologies GmbH performed the reservoir engineering and gas engineering completion.
