KBB Kavernen Bau- und Betriebsgesellschaft GmbH was one of the world’s leading engineering consultants in the field of underground storage and brine production for more than 30 years. It not only constructed the largest strategic crude oil reserves in Germany and the USA but also some of the world’s largest salt storage caverns for the seasonal storage of natural gas. KBB’s underground activities, with a scope of more than 170 individual projects worldwide, including those constructed in conjunction with subsidiaries in both the US and Germany, transferred to the KBB Underground Technologies GmbH in November 2004. Based in Hannover, North Germany, the successor company focuses on underground technologies and has a broad portfolio of projects in progress together with brining operations.
